Obituary: Waukee, IA: Mandy Wallenburg, 23, of Waukee, formerly of Rock Valley, IA, died Sunday, December 6, 2009 of complications due to a seizure. Memorial Service will be 11 a.m., Thursday at Faith Reformed Church, Rock Valley. Burial at Valley View Cemetery will be prior the service. Visitation with family will be 5-8 p.m., Wednesday at Trinity Christian Reformed Church, Rock Valley. Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley is assisting the family. Amanda "Mandy" Dawn Yung Wallenburg was born February 27, 1986 at Daejeon City, South Korea. She was adopted on June 3, 1986 by John and Lu Anne (Wierenga) Wallenburg. After graduating from Rock Valley High School in 2004, she attended Iowa Lakes Community College, Southeast Tech and then Des Moines Area Community College receiving her Associates Degree in Phlebotomy. Mandy was currently working at the Blood Center of Iowa as a phlebotomist in Des Moines. Mandy was known for being an excellent cook. She loved spending time shopping and being at the beach, playing with her dog, Bailey, living with her brother, Jon and being with her brothers, family, friends and especially her boyfriend, Adam.

She is survived by her parents: John (Dori) Wallenburg and Lu (Gary) DeVries all of Rock Valley; very special friend Adam Schoe of Urbandale, IA; brothers: Jon (and friend, Allison Acton) Wallenburg of Waukee, IA, Chris (Shelly) Wallenburg of Des Moines, Don (Stacia) and daughter, Mya Wallenburg of Rock Valley, Heath (Becky) and children, Brenden and Makiah Wallenburg of Rock Valley.

Mandy was preceded in death by her grandparents: John W. and Nellie Wallenburg and Richard and Frieda Wierenga; uncle, Richard "Butch" Wierenga; cousin, Billy Wierenga.
