Abel Gamez

Hull, IA: Abel Gamez, 47, of Hull, Iowa died suddenly of an apparent heart attack on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at Hegg Memorial Health Center of Rock Valley, Iowa. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 14, at 1:30 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley with Father Douglas Klein officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 1:00-1:30 PM at the funeral home. Condolences may be left for the family at www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

Abel Gamez, son of Catarino and Aida (Mayorga) Gamez, was born October 25, 1969 in McAllen, Texas. Abel grew up in McAllen and attended grade school and high school there. He met Olga Flores and together they started a family. In 1997 the family moved to Hull, Iowa where Abel and Olga raised their three daughters. Abel worked as a machinist at the Kooima Company in Rock Valley. He enjoyed barbequing, soccer, wrestling, and football. He especially liked cheering for the Dallas Cowboys. His greatest love though was time spent with his family.

Abel is survived by his companion Olga Flores; three daughters, Stephanie Flores and her five children, Blagemir, Mario, Jenicka, Neymar, and Catarino; Aida Gamez and her two children, Aida-Consuelo, and Abel; and Diana Gamez, all of Hull; one brother, Catarino Gamez, Jr.; one sister-in-law, Yesenia (Alberto) Garcia; and his nieces and nephews, Joel (Christian) Sanchez, Axel, Alberto Jr., Kendra, and Karely.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Catarino and Aida; and his mother-in-law, Consuelo Diaz.
