Winnifred and family, grace and peace to you as you grieve Alfred's death, give thanks for his life, rejoice in his eternal life, and hope (confidently expect) to see him again, all through our Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. I regret having to miss the funeral as I am away at annual training with the Iowa Army National Guard.

It was my great honor to have accompanied Alfred and six other Sioux County Korean War Veterans on their Honor Flight in September, 2014. Alfred is the third of them to have since taken the greatest honor flight of all to heaven. The Lord be with you all.

Uncle Alfred held such a dear spot in my heart. I know that he was loved by so many and will be missed tremendously.

I remember him as kind, wise and that he took time to talk to me, which meant so much to me. As a child I loved to play toys in his basement while the grownup chatted in the living room. On a visit out in CA he toured my college campus. It was a difficult time in my life and he gently spoke hope and clarity into my spirit. I have such appreciation for him and have always admired him.

To Aunt Winnifred and my extended Iowa family, my heart goes out to all of you. I love you and am praying for you.
