Anna Marie Jansen

Hull, IA: Anna Marie Jansen, 94, of Hull, Iowa, formerly Rock Valley, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull. A combined memorial service for Anna and her husband, Cornie Jansen, who died October 8, 2024, will be held Monday, August 11, at 11:00 AM at First Reformed Church of Rock Valley with Rev. Cliff Hoekstra officiating. The service can be livestreamed at https://www.rvfrc.org/. The family will greet friends during a luncheon at the church following the service. Inurnment will be held prior to the service at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley.

Anna Marie Jansen, daughter of Herbert and Hattie (Kuhl) Koel, was born January 29, 1931, in Hull, Iowa. She grew up in the Hull and George, Iowa area and later moved to Maurice, Iowa. Anna attended country school. Anna met Cornie Jansen and on June 22, 1948, the couple was married. They lived most of their married life in Sioux County except for a 4-year period when they lived in Idaho.

In addition to being a devoted homemaker, Anna worked as a certified nursing assistant at Sioux Center Health and later worked as a dietary aide and housekeeper at Hegg Health Center in Rock Valley. Anna enjoyed reading, traveling, playing piano by ear, and going dancing with Cornie.

Anna is survived by her 5 children, Carol Kooima of Rock Valley, Iowa, Twilla (Chuck) Hoekstra of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Larry (Judy) Jansen of Casper, Wyoming, Sharon (Duane) Boeve of Milford, Iowa, and Sandra Jansen of Eureka, Illinois; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 20 great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Derrick (Sally) Koel of Sioux Center, Iowa.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Hattie; stepmother, Jennie Koel; husband, Cornie; sister, Jacoba (Albert) Rens; and 2 brothers, Donald (Marjorie) Koel and Delphus (Lorna) Koel.
