Betty Jean Eisma (Veldman) of Inwood, Iowa passed away into the presence of her Lord and Savior on May 7, 2025, at the Fellowship Village in Inwood, Iowa.

Funeral service will be held at the Inwood Christian Reformed Church at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2025, with Rev. Dave Smit officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at the Richland Cemetery in Inwood followed by a luncheon and time of fellowship at the church. The Porter Funeral Home of Inwood is assisting the family. Condolences may be sent to www.porterfuneralhomes.com. Betty Jean was born on August 29, 1931, and lived on a farm outside of Inwood, Iowa with her six siblings and parents, Henry, and Tena (Kooima) Veldman. Betty Jean attended country school and went on to Northwestern College and became a teacher. Her first teaching position was in Chicago for a year, then Lebanon Christian School before ending up at Inwood Christian School where she both taught and was the principal. She met her husband of seventy years, Eugene, at a roller-skating rink and were united in marriage, had six sons, and together made their home in Inwood, Iowa.

Betty Jean was a long-standing member of her church where she served faithfully, volunteered on many committees and studied the word of God attending Bible studies. Betty Jean loved spending time with her family and was consistently an example of the love of Jesus to all. She had the gift of hospitality and conversation and made everyone who met her feel welcomed, special, and loved.

She survives by her husband Eugene of Inwood; her sons, Daniel (Rita) of Inwood, Douglas (Shellie) of Edgerton, MN, Dean (Nancy) of Rogers, AR, and Damon (Kirsten) of Luverne, MN. Grandchildren, Derek Eisma and Kenton Eisma, sons of David (Jayne Bremmer), who preceded his mother into glory nine years ago; Jennifer (Todd) Reinke, Joseph (Melissa) Eisma, Jillian (Max) Aldridge, Jonathan Eisma, Julianne (Kyle) Soto, Elizabeth Eisma, Jeff Eisma, Jordan Eisma, Jarrod Eisma, Jena Eisma, Katrina Wessels, Sophia Eisma, Timothy Eisma, Philip Eisma, and Sylvia Eisma. Along with ten great grandchildren, Natalie Noordewier, Evan Eisma, Vivienne Reinke, Charlotte Reinke, Tennyson Reinke, Kailee Eisma, Logan Eisma, Eleanor Aldridge, Amelia Aldridge, and Callum Aldridge. Sisters, Eldora Hoff of Lubbock, TX and Gert De Jong of Rock Valley, IA, and sister-in-law, Sherry Veldman of Rock Valley and her many beloved nieces and nephews.

Betty Jean was preceded in death by her sons, Derek and David; parents, Henry and Tena Veldman; sisters, Hermina Van Ginkel, Henrietta Maassen, and Donna Schepel; brother, Gerald Veldman; brothers-in-law, Alfred Schepel, Everette Van Ginkel, John Maassen, Nelson De Jong, and Cornelius “Bud” Hoff; nephews, Mark Hoff, Robert “Bob” Van Ginkel, John Burgers, Ron Van Ginkel, and Roger Maassen; and niece, Jill Hoff.
