Carol Ann Jacobson

HAWARDEN, IOWA ~ Carol Ann Jacobson, 79, of Hawarden, passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2026, at First Baptist Church in Hawarden with Pastor Tom Wenzel officiating. Inurnment will follow at Eden Cemetery in Hudson, South Dakota. Carol Ann Jacobson was born March 8, 1947, in Pipestone, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Mildred (Opsahl) Tirrel. She grew up in Lake Benton, Minnesota where she graduated from High School.

Carol married Kenneth Jacobson on August 10, 1982. They moved to Rock Valley, Iowa in 1986 and later made their home in Hudson, South Dakota. Carol worked in steakhouses in Doon, Iowa and Akron, Iowa, and later was employed at the Buckaroo in Hudson. She always enjoyed the people she met and made many friends from everywhere through her work.

Kenneth passed away on May 17, 2005. Carol later moved to Hawarden, Iowa where she attended the First Baptist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Shelly Brekke and her husband Lee of Farmington, Minnesota and their children: David Brekke and wife Jenny and children Violet and Bryce, Erin Brekke and husband Loel Nelson and children Gary, Ava, and Jones, and Randall Brekke; and daughter Kelly Dombrovski and her husband Chad of Foley, Minnesota; her twin brother, Darrell Simon and his wife Carol and their children Lisa and Andrea and a very special friends, Cyndy Shearn, Jodi, and Darin.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; husband; half-sister, Dixie; and many aunts and uncles.
