Clark VanDonge

Clark E. VanDonge 76, of Burleson, Texas passed away on March 10, 2024. 

Born, February 10, 1948, in LeMars, Iowa, to Edward and Mildred VanDonge. 

Clark is survived by his spouse, Debbie, of Burleson, TX. 

Daughter, Stacie Jo Pollard and granddaughter, Kennedy of Round Rock, TX. 

Daughter Jill Marie Wylie, husband Chris and grandchildren Layne and Jaxon of Mansfield, TX. 

Stepson, Craig Lee Klauer of Lowell, IN and his son Kolby of DeMotte, IN. 

Stepson Christopher Michael Klauer of Hollywood, CA. 

Sisters, Beverly Swift Netley of Boerne, TX and Beth VanBeek, husband Russ of Aberdeen, SD. 

Clark grew up on a farm near Ireton, IA. He graduated from Westmar College in LeMars, IA with a Business Management degree. He stayed true to his farming roots through his love of garden design and landscaping. 

On September 11, 2000, Clark reconnected with Debbie. They were married in December of 2003. Clark and Debbie resided in Tea, SD for several years, before relocating to Texas to be closer to kids and grandkids. This move allowed an opportunity to experience more than just holidays, but day-to-day life with family.

His strong work ethic probably delayed his diagnosis as one of the telltale signs of Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS) is extreme fatigue. He maintained a POSITIVE attitude throughout his battle with MDS. He fought with grace, dignity, integrity, but most of all courage.

Prayers sustained him long enough for his family to arrive and say goodbye in person. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by those who loved him most.

Clark and Debbie had 24 extraordinary years. There were simply not enough of them.

Clark would want all of us to remember him with a smile not tears. He would want us to find comfort in knowing he is free of pain and home with his Heavenly Father.

A Celebration of Life will be held July 13, 2024, at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Ireton, at 1:00 pm. Our family would also like you to join us at the Ireton Community Center following the service, for refreshments from 2:00 - 4:00 pm. The Porter Funeral Home is assisting the family.
