Dale Joseph Plueger

Rock Valley, IA: Dale Joseph Plueger, 71, of Rock Valley, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Whispering Heights in Rock Valley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 15, at 2:00 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Rock Valley with Father Mauro Sanchez celebrating the Mass. Private family inurnment will be held Saturday, July 19, at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Visitation with the family present will be held Monday, July 14, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley. A prayer service will follow the visitation at 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

   Dale Joseph Plueger, son of Don and Madonna (Ripperda) Plueger, was born July 20, 1953, in Rock Valley, Iowa. Dale was a graduate of Rock Valley High School. On his birthday, July 20, 1979, Dale was united in marriage with Bev Ver Meer at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rock Valley.

   Dale was a talented drywaller, first working for Don Doorn and then he spent 30 plus years working for Poppema Sikma Construction. Dale was proud of his work and many times customers would ask specifically for him to be the drywaller on their project. He worked hard and enjoyed his craft. When you could pry Dale away from work, you’d often find him enjoying fishing, hunting, and camping.

   Dale is survived by his wife of nearly 46 years, Bev; daughter, Jodi (Eric) Faber of Inwood, Iowa; son, Jeremiah Plueger of Crooks, South Dakota; 4 grandchildren, Karisa (Trevor) Van’t Hul, Dalton Faber, Hunter Plueger, and Tanner Plueger; 3 great-granddaughters, Brynlee, Layla, and Kaelynn; and 7 siblings, Suzanne (Galen) Schemmel of Alvord, Iowa, David Plueger of Canton, South Dakota, Duane (Kathy) Plueger of Marion, Iowa, Douglas (Sue) Plueger of Rock Valley, Iowa, Sandra (Harlan) Rens of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Darrell (Madona) Plueger of Goodyear, Arizona, and Daniel (Monica) Plueger of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

   Preceding Dale in death were his parents, Don and Madonna; and parents-in-law, John and Joyce Ver Meer.
