David Mulder

DOON, IOWA – David John Mulder, 37, of Doon, died in his home on Wednesday, December 27, 2017 after his battle to acute myeloid leukemia that began May 25, 2016.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 30, 2017 at the Doon United Reformed Church in Doon, Iowa with Pastor Mike Altena officiating. A luncheon will follow the service with burial at Hillside Cemetery at 2:45 p.m. Visitation with the family present will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the church. David John Mulder was born September 30, 1980 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the son of Leon and Shirley (Vander Ziel) Mulder. The family moved to Doon when he was 3 months old and David has lived in Doon the rest of his life. David married Joy Bleyenberg on December 27, 2003 at the First Reformed Church in Doon. David had various jobs prior to working in service for Automated Waste Systems in Hull, Iowa beginning in 2002. He then started in sales in 2003 selling equipment for AWS through Mulder Equipment Sales.

David took pride in his work, loved shooting guns, racing, and riding 4-wheelers. He was a family man and wanted his children to know God.

David is survived by his wife, Joy and 3 children, Jackson, Kendra, and Elijah; his parents, Leon and Shirley Mulder of Doon; 2 sisters, Sheila (Bart) Weaver of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Amy (Randy) Brands of Boyden, Iowa; Joy’s parents, Art and Mary Bleyenberg of Hull; a brother-in-law, Aaron (Kim) Bleyenberg of Tatum, New Mexico; 3 sisters-in-law, Marideth (Mike) Van Otterloo of Hull, Janae (Kyle) Vander Schaaf of Hull, and Janeane (Chris) Van Ginkel of Doon.

David was preceded in death by a brother, Dan Mulder; and grandparents, Alvin and Rose Mulder and John and Gertrude Vander Ziel.
