David W. Strassburg

Rock Rapids, IA: David Willard Strassburg, 65, of Rock Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, September 16, 2024, at his daughter’s home near Hull, Iowa, under the care of Sanford Hospice. Per David’s wishes he was cremated and Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley, Iowa is assisting the family with arrangements. 

 In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials which will be directed to a charity of their choosing in memory of David.

 David Willard Strassburg, son of Willard and Delores (Schmuck) Strassburg, was born December 30, 1958, in Minnesota. He attended and graduated from Magnolia High School in Magnolia, Minnesota. 

 In 1978 David met Kathy Pettit in Broomfield, Colorado. On June 28, 1980, the couple was united in marriage in Kenneth, Minnesota. In 1994 they moved to Luverne, Minnesota.

 David loved spending time with his family. He also enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and camping.

 He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Kathy; 5 children, David Willard Strassburg Jr. of Brookings, South Dakota, Wendy (Mike) Ranallo of Pease, Minnesota, Suzy (Dale) Jacobsma of Hull, Iowa, Christina (Jeff) Bakker of Hull, Iowa and Lucas Strassburg of Kenneth, Minnesota; and 9 grandchildren, Trinity, Brody, Breely, Mallory, Wyatt, David III, Curits, Asher, and Jovie.

 David was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Delores; granddaughter, Iris; brother, Dale; niece, Jessica; and brothers-in-law, Lee and Paul.
