Dolores "Dee" Rowland

HAWARDEN, IOWA ~ Dolores “Dee” Rowland, 89, of Hawarden, formerly of Oskaloosa, Iowa, died on Monday, March 13, 2017 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden, Iowa.

Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 17th at the Associated Church in Hawarden, Iowa with Rev. Erma Wolf officiating. The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is assisting the family. Condolences may be sent to www.porterfuneralhomes.com. Memorials may be given to Hospice of Siouxland.

Dolores Jean “Dee” Rowland was born on January 2, 1928 in Waukee, Iowa, the daughter of Lester and Naoma (Ervin) Melton. She was raised in the Des Moines area and graduated from North High School in Des Moines.

On April 4th, 1947, Dee married Don Rowland. Together they spent 57 happy years. Don was a career Air Force Sergeant.

Dolores was a great home maker and mother. She was a skilled stenographer, typing and short-hand her specialties.

Dolores was always a strong, caring, generous, and very graceful lady. She enjoyed her family and taught her daughters to pray. She liked spending time with her friends, playing bridge, gardening, aquasize, and traveling.

Most of all Dee loved her husband Don, and her three daughters, Kristine Smith, Priscilla Meyermann, and Marsha Eilers and their husbands. She was extremely proud of her three grandchildren, Samantha Schultz, Sky Eilers, and Kurt Meyermann. She dearly loved her two great-grandchildren, Abigail and Colin Schultz.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don Rowland; and her two sisters, Nettie Rose Koppe and Lena Thornton.
