Donald Ter Haar
Sioux Center, IA: Donald Ter Haar, 81, of Sioux Center, formerly of Rock Valley, died Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Sioux Center Health. Memorial services will be Saturday, July 16, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Christian Reformed Church of Rock Valley. Per Don’s wishes, his body has been donated to the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine. Memorials may be given to Justice for All.
Donald Dale Ter Haar, son of Henry and Grace (Van Otterloo) Ter Haar, was born June 8, 1935 at Orange City, Iowa. Don graduated from Sioux Center High School and furthered his education at DeVry Technical Institution in Chicago, Illinois. Don was united in marriage with Irene Brands in Rock Valley, Iowa in 1957. Together the couple lived in various communities which included; Chicago; San Jose, California; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Rock Valley and Sioux Center. Don worked for several years in bowling alley maintenance. Don had a passion for volunteering his time helping with the Justice for All ministry. He loved woodworking, property maintenance, and traveling.
Don is survived by his wife Irene Ter Haar; five children; Harlan (Jaki) Ter Haar of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Dean (Sandra) Ter Haar of Wyoming, Michigan; Tim (Judy) Ter Haar of Sioux Center; Dale (Nancy) Ter Haar of South Holland, Illinois; and Nancy (Darin) Larson of Beresford, South Dakota; 21 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Helen (Rog) Bolks of Sioux Center.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Grace Ter Haar; two brothers; Gerald and Philip Ter Haar; and one granddaughter, Rebekah Ter Haar.
