Don was born July 25, 1951 in Hull, the son of Gib and Marie (DeBruin) Postma. He was a graduate of Central Lyon High School. Don married Lorna Dykstra on January 19, 1973 in Hull. Together they made their home on the Dykstra family farm four miles north of Hull where he farmed, milked cows, and raised hogs. In his early years of marriage, Don also worked at Roorda in Rock Valley. When his children were older, he and Lorna moved to a new home one mile north of Hull. He continued farming and also worked at Link Manufacturing in Sioux Center, then A&I John Deere in Rock Valley where he worked until May of this year.

Don loved life, and he loved being surrounded by family and friends. He was known for his tough exterior, but inside he had a heart of gold. Don played fast pitch softball with his brothers for more than 20 years. He also enjoyed bowling (having bowled a perfect 300 in 1995), riding his motorcycle, watching sports, camping and boating at Okoboji, and golfing with local buddies. More than anything he loved spending time with his grandkids.

Don is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lorna; 3 daughters and their families, Dawn and Terry Hatting (Dylan, Evan) of Hull, Julie and Ben Noble (Zach, Kody, Avery, Grady) of Hull, Joni and Aaron Lenderts (Keaton, Kaiya) of Baltic, SD; his parents Gib and Marie Postma of Doon; 6 brothers and 1 sister, Rod (Joella) Postma, Janice DenBesten, Doug (Von) Postma, Glenn (Rhonda) Postma, Dwayne (Sharon) Postma, Bud (Kelly) Postma, and Mike Postma.

Lorna- my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time. Take care.

Larger than life is how I would describe Don. You always knew when he was around. He had a way of ribbing you and liked to get a reaction out of you but he would go to war with you if he liked you. He has gone way too soon.

Thought and prayers go out to your family. I worked with Don for many years at Link and now also at A&I. I also had the fun of playing softball with him and the brothers! He was a great guy and will be missed by all!

My deepest sympathies to all the Postma family. Lorna, you have traveled such a difficult path with Don. He doesn't need to suffer any longer and you can rest in the reassurance that you will be together again some day. My prayers will continue for the peace that surpasses all understanding from our Savior and the one who promises everlasting life.
