Donna Jean Johnson, "Jean"

    Donna Jean Johnson “Jean” was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world peacefully, with family by her side, on April 13^th, 2024, at the age of 84.

    Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hawarden, Iowa with Father Mauro Sanchez celebrating the Mass. The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is assisting the family. 

    Jean was born to Russell and Mildred (Loger) Skinner on May 18, 1939, in Spink, South Dakota. After high school, she married her husband of 66 years, James Paul Topf Johnson. Together they had eleven children: Sharla Rinn, Maralee (Scott) Schmidt, Jamey Genna, Bill (Doneen), Suzanne (Nick) Anthony, David Johnson, Jimmy (Kelly) Johnson, Robert (Nicole) Johnson, Kelley (Matt) Strickland. She was proceeded in death by her two sons, Jon and Alan Troy, her parents, three sisters and four brothers. 

    She spent many years side-by-side with her husband Jim on the farm.  Mom and Dad also loved going dancing together. 

    Jean loved spending time with her family, telling stories of the birds and animals that crossed through the farm, reading, and going on cruises with her daughters. She created many memories with her 28 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. 

    She will be remembered for her kind heart, loving spirit and faith in the Lord.
