Douglas Gerard Plueger

Rock Valley, IA: Douglas Gerard Plueger, 71, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Friday, July 18, 2025, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, July 22, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Rock Valley with Father Mauro Sanchez celebrating the mass. Visitation will be held Monday, July 21, from 5:30-7:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley with a prayer service to follow at 7:00 PM. 

   Douglas Gerard Plueger, son of Donald and Madonna (Ripperda) Plueger, was born July 11, 1954, at Le Mars, Iowa. Doug grew up in Rock Valley and graduated from Rock Valley High School, Class of 1972. Doug married Susan Gerritsen on April 15, 1983, and to this union two children were born, Jason and Jamie.

   Doug worked as an HVAC technician for CW Suter Services in Sioux City, Iowa, for 40 plus years. When he wasn’t working Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

   Doug is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sue; son, Jason Plueger of Rock Valley; daughter, Jamie Plueger of Rock Valley; 5 grandchildren, Kya, Annor, Emma, Jada, and Bailey; 6 siblings, Suzanne (Galen) Schemmel of Alvord, Iowa, David Plueger of Canton, South Dakota, Duane (Kathy) Plueger of Marion, Iowa, Sandra (Harlan) Rens of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Darrell (Madona) Plueger of Goodyear, Arizona, and Daniel (Monica) Plueger of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; sister-in-law, Bev Plueger of Rock Valley; and many nieces and nephews.

   Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Madonna; and brother, Dale Plueger.
