Earl Kooi, son of Benart and Lura (Brown) Kooi, was born November 22, 1921. He lived in Sioux County his entire life. Earl worked for his father on the Kooi farm west of Lebanon and married Henrietta (Toots) Koopmans December 22, 1941 near Ireton. They farmed a few miles northwest of Lebanon the early years and eventually moved to Aunt Etti (Brown) Galbraith’s farm in Eagle Township. Their last farm was purchased from Uncle Harley Brown. Jacob Brown, Earl’s maternal grandfather, originally owned the Galbraith and Brown farms. Earl retired in 1989, moved to Ireton, and was thrilled to drive equipment for family and friends, along with woodworking projects. Repairing sewing machines and assembling Hope Haven wheel chairs was another joyful outlet. Later Henrietta and he moved to the Pioneer Home in Orange City with final years at Hillcrest in Hawarden. Henrietta went to glory on November 7, 2014, and Earl went to meet his savior as well on July 29, 2015.
