Hudson, SD: Elinor F. Quarnstrom, 89, of Canton, South Dakota, formerly of Hudson, South Dakota, died Monday, November 5, 2018, at Good Samaritan Society in Canton. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 9 at 11:00 AM at Hudson Lutheran Church with Rev. Kevin Jensen officiating. Burial will follow at Eden Cemetery of Hudson. Visitation, with the family present, will be held Thursday, November 8 at the church from 5:30-7:00 PM. Memorials may be given to Hudson Public Library or Hudson Lutheran Church.
Elinor Faye Miller was born on February 1, 1929, to Frank and Amanda Miller in rural Sioux County, Iowa. She attended rural school and graduated from Rock Valley High School. Elinor married Theodore (Ted) Quarnstrom on May 31, 1949, and made their home in Hudson, South Dakota.
Elinor enjoyed singing, gardening, sewing, baking and many other creative activities. She was active with Hudson Lutheran Church, Hudson Public Library, Hudson Emergency Services and the Hudson Women’s Study Club.
Elinor was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Amanda and three brothers: Raymond, Robert and Arnold. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Ted, along with four children: Joyce and her husband, Gordon VandeVoorde, Beth, Barbara and James; brother: Fred; sister: Jean; three grandchildren: Emma, Aaron and Matthew; one great-granddaughter: Bridget; and several nieces and nephews.
