Elnora Ann Boon

DOON, IOWA ~ It is with deep sadness that the Boon family announces the loss of their matriarch. Elnora Ann Boon, 75, of Doon, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Ava’s House in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

   Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2025, at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley, Iowa with Pastor Jim Sweers of the First Community Church of Hope of Doon officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Porter Funeral Home.

   Elnora Ann (Stettnichs) Boon was born November 16, 1949, to Earl August and Elsie Anne (Bramstedt) Stettnichs in LeMars, Iowa. During Elnora’s time on Earth, she was dedicated to the service to others through nursing. Elnora started her career by receiving her diploma from the Sioux Valley School of Nursing to become a Registered Nurse. Elnora would then go on to spend nearly 40 years serving her community at Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital, in addition to serving with the Doon Emergency Medical Services.

   Elnora was united in marriage to Isaac Boon Jr. on October 2, 1970. They bought a house in Doon and have lived there ever since. Elnora held deep pride for the family she built with her husband and was the foundation of the family’s strength and connection.

   In Elnora’s free time, she found joy in spending time with her children and grandchildren, always making time to form memories and experiences while traveling the country. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary since 1978. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and reading. Elnora also found time to unwind by participating in bowling tournaments throughout the area.

   Elnora had a deep love for cats and would never turn away a stray that came to her door. These loving and furry creatures always played a big role in her life, starting from her early days living on a farm to teaching her grandchildren how to nurture and love others through the care of animals.

   Elnora is survived by her husband, Isaac Boon Jr.; her children, Lance (Alyssa Berg) Boon, Heather (Dusk Geffre) Boon, and Angela (Keith) Henrichs; and her five grandchildren, Chastity, Faith, Destiny, Lane, and Blake. Elnora is joining her heavenly family, her parents, Earl and Elsie Stettnichs; and her firstborn son, Isaac III.
