Esther Lange

Doon, IA: Esther Lange, 69, of Doon, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 28, 2025. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 31, at 10:30 AM at The Netherlands Reformed Congregation of Rock Valley, Iowa with Rev. J.J. Witvoet officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Visitation, with the family present, will be held Thursday, October 30, from 5:00-7:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.

Esther Fluit Lange was born August 28, 1956, to Teunis Jr. and Elizabeth (Kleyn) Fluit in Rock Rapids, Iowa. She grew up on her parents’ farm outside of Alvord, Iowa. On October 16, 1981, Esther was united in marriage with Daniel Lange in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. To this union, five children were born. She worked at McCords and John Morrell until she married her husband.

Esther was a wonderful homemaker her whole life. She will be remembered for her excellent cooking and baking skills, as well as her gardening, which she enjoyed sharing with others. Esther always enjoyed playing games as well.

Esther is survived by her 5 children, daughter, Clazina Tankersley and her children, Kalel, Kato, and Klazina; son, Norman (Nici) Lange and their children, Alexis, Jack, Evelyn, and Elias; son, Timothy (Morgan) Lange and their children, Carlee, Chase, and Colten; son, David (Hope) Lange; and son, William Lange; siblings, Teunis (Jean) Fluit, Ella Minor, Jenny Johnson, William (LaRae) Fluit, and Alice Fluit; siblings-in-law, Debbie Lange, John (Kathy) Lange, Jim (Kelly) Lange, and Dave (Krista) Lange; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Lange; her parents, Teunis and Elizabeth Fluit; siblings, Clazina (Harvey) Burggraaf, John Fluit, Bernard Johnson, and Robert Minor; father and mother-in-law, Jack and Colleen Lange; siblings-in-law, Tom Lange and Cheryl (Neal) Buchite.
