Florence Hansen

Hawarden, Iowa ~ Florence Viola Hansen, 95, of Hawarden, died on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden.
Memorial Service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, September 25, 2015 at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden with Pastor Stuart Schreur officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Grace Hill Cemetery. Condolences for the family may be sent to www.porterfuneralhomes.com.
Florence Viola Hansen was born January 28, 1920 at Elk Point, South Dakota, the daughter of John and Minnie (Walker) Livingston. She married Floyd “Smokey” Hansen on July 24, 1938 at Elk Point. The couple lived in Akron, Iowa before moving to Hawarden, Iowa. Florence was a cook at the Gladstone Hotel, John’s Place, and at other restaurants. She enjoyed belonging to a garden club.
Her husband Floyd died on June 19, 1980. Florence moved to the Hillcrest Health Care Center in July 2012.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Hitzelberger and her husband Bob of Shirley, Arkansas; 2 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
Florence was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 brothers, John and Bill; sister, Jennie Graves; and a great-granddaughter, Jennifer Snow.
