Geneva Van Beek

Rock Valley, IA: Geneva Van Beek, 84, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Sunday, February 1, 2026, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 5, at 10:30 AM at Faith Reformed Church of Rock Valley with Pastor Chris Van Beek officiating. The service can be livestreamed at https://www.faithrv.com/. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Public viewing, with no family present, will be held Wednesday, February 4, from 5:00-7:30 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.

   Memorial contributions may be directed to the Faith Reformed Church Youth Group.

   Geneva Van Beek, daughter of John and Grietta (Rotier) Van Voorst, was born May 24, 1941, in Sioux County, Iowa. Geneva grew up in the Rock Valley and Inwood, Iowa area and graduated from Inwood High School. On August 4, 1959, Geneva was united in marriage with Albert J. Van Beek in Rock Valley. The couple made their home in Rock Valley and then in 1974 they moved to the Van Beek family farm where Albert grew up. In addition to being a wonderful homemaker on the farm, Geneva also spent time working for her brother Dan Van Voorst at his grocery store and cleaning homes in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Geneva and Albert retired off the farm and moved back to Rock Valley. Albert passed away May 29, 2023.

   Geneva loved her family deeply and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was always supportive and attended as many sporting and school events as possible. She found enjoyment in camping, traveling, and cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, especially during Caitlin Clark years.

   Geneva is survived by her 5 children, Brenda (Duane) Rus, Darwin (Gina) Van Beek, Linda (Paul) Van Kekerix, Leon (Sheila) Van Beek, and Jason (Katy) Van Beek, all of Rock Valley; 15 grandchildren, Tara (Dwight) Berglund, Mike (Courtney) Rus, Trisha (Cody) Hoksbergen, Preston (Samantha) Hoebelheinrich, Austin (RaeLee) Gregg, Shaelyn Gregg, Ross (Marissa) Van Kekerix, Bobbi Van Kekerix, Mandy (Trey) LaGois, Josie (Ross) Hoksbergen, Devin (Emery) Van Beek, Carly Van Beek, Jackson Van Beek, Tyce Van Beek, and Emma Van Beek; 25 great-grandchildren; brother, Norm (Tweila) Van Voorst of Sioux Center, Iowa; brother-in-law, John Van Beek of Rock Valley; and sisters-in-law, Gert Blom of Rock Valley and Kathy (Stan) Patzer of Big Stone City, South Dakota.

   Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, John and Grietta; parents-in-law, John and Anna Van Beek; husband, Albert Van Beek; great-grandson, Kolter Gregg; brothers, Marv Van Voorst and Dan Van Voorst; brother-in-law, Clarence Blom; sisters-in-law, Ethel Van Beek and Joyce Van Voorst; and nephew, Paul Van Voorst.
