Gwendolyn "Gwen" Ditzel

September 28, 1929 — August 20, 2016

Ditzel (Hoogeveen), Gwendolyn H., Age 86, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Brookdale of Beavercreek, OH after a lengthy illness. Gwen was born in Doon, IA on September 28, 1929 to Clara (Bick) and Henry Hoogeveen. She was preceded in death by: her parents; two husbands, Roger Ditzel and George Radulovich; an infant son, Eric; and a brother, James Hoogeveen. Gwen graduated from Iowa State University in 1951 with a degree in Home Economics, which she used to create lovely homes for her first husband of 43 years, Roger Ditzel, and their children in various locations across the U.S. After Roger’s death in 1996, she married George Radulovich. They enjoyed twenty years together in Lafayette, CA and at their beach home in Watsonville, CA. Throughout her life, Gwen’s faith motivated her to serve in the church and with other charities. Her hobbies included travel, tennis and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by: two children, David (Inmaculada) Ditzel of Los Altos Hills, CA and Joan (Thomas) Hoffmann of Beavercreek, OH; four grandchildren, Christopher Hood, Matthew (Allison) Hood, Claire (David) Grimsley and Michael Hood; two step-grandchildren, Alex Reagan and Quentin Hoffmann; a sister, Muriel LeMonds; a brother, Jack Hoogeveen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery in Doon, IA on September 3, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Dayton.
