INWOOD, IOWA ~ Harriet Lois Van Voorst, 93, of Inwood, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Fellowship Village in Inwood.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Inwood Christian Reformed Church in Inwood, Iowa with Rev. David Smit officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery at Inwood. Visitation with the family will be from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. prior to the service at the church. The Porter Funeral Home in Inwood is assisting the family. Harriet was born March 18, 1933, in Hull, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Hilda (Moorlog) Nobel. She grew up with her 2 brothers and 3 sisters on a farm 4 miles north of Hull and graduated eighth grade in a country school.

Harriet was united in marriage to Garret Van Voorst on May 16, 1951, at Ireton, Iowa. The couple made their home in Sioux Center, Iowa where Harriet was a home maker and raised their family. In 1962, Garret and Harriet moved to Inwood, Iowa.

Harriet loved her family and enjoyed it when they could spend time together. She also enjoyed camping, traveling, sewing, quilting, baking, crocheting, and flower gardening. Harriet always made sure that each grandchild received a quilt when they married and each great-grandchild received a small quilt when they were born. She was a longtime active member of the Inwood Christian Reformed Church.

Harriet is survived by 3 children, Verlyn (Karen) Van Voorst and Gene (Gail) Van Voorst both of Inwood and Melinda (Tim) Dykstra of Acworth, Georgia; daughter-in-law, Dawn Van Voorst of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 14 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren with a great-great-grandchild expected soon. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Bill Davelaar and a sister-in-law, Marilyn Nobel.

Preceding Harriet in death are her parents; husband, Garret; son, David Van Voorst; grandson, Nathan Van Voorst; 2 brothers, Bernard (Adeline) Nobel and John Nobel; and 3 sisters, Joanne (Wayne) Altena, Hertilda Davelaar, and Henrietta (Chris) Schiebout.
