Rock Valley, Iowa: Harvey Leroy Klein, 89, of Rock Valley, Iowa, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, at Hawarden Regional Healthcare Hospital in Hawarden, Iowa. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 6, at 1:30 PM, at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley, with Rev. Dr. Joshua Lowe officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Harvey’s family prefers memorials be directed to Hope Haven in Rock Valley. His service will be livestreamed on his obituary page on this website.

Harvey was born in Boyden, Iowa, on October 27, 1936, to John and Nancy (Dethmers) Klein. He attended school through the eighth grade in Boyden. In 1956, he married Pauline Meyers and moved to Bellflower, California. Together they had one son, Lyle. Approximately a year later his wife, Pauline passed away suddenly and Harvey and his son moved in with his parents in Bellflower.

Upon his dad’s retirement, they moved back to Rock Rapids, Iowa, and Harvey started employment in Rock Valley, Iowa. He then moved with his son, Lyle, to Rock Valley. Harvey was employed at Roorda Manufacturing until his retirement.

Harvey is survived by his son, Lyle Klein a resident of Hope Haven of Rock Valley, Iowa; three brothers, Alvin (Lois) Klein, Don (Marlene) Klein all of Ontario, California, Robert (Helen) Klein of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; sister, Karen Brown of Austin, Texas; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline; parents, John and Nancy Klein; sister and brother-in-law, Arlis (Marvin) Vander Sloot; and brother-in-law, Eugene Brown.
