Hattie Hooyer

Hattie Hooyer, age 98, of Sioux Center, Iowa, died Friday, February 22, 2013 at Hegg Memorial Health Center in Rock Valley, Iowa. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Carmel Reformed Church in Carmel, Iowa with Rev. Mark Heijerman officiating. Burial will follow at Carmel Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service from 1:00 -2:00 p.m. at the church. Hattie Hooyer was born on September 12, 1914 in Perkins, Iowa. She was the daughter of Egbert and Janna (De Graff) Hooyer. She attended country school and graduated from the eighth grade. She worked on the family farm and loved gardening. She especially enjoyed her flower gardens. Hattie also liked crossword puzzles and playing cards.

Hattie is survived by her sister, Marie Vande Kamp of Rock Valley; nephew, John Vande Kamp of Rock Valley; niece, Marietta (Duane) De Kruyff of Pella, Iowa and grandnephew Cody De Kruyff. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Bertha Hooyer and brother-in-law Walter Vande Kamp.
