Hermina Rozeboom

Rock Valley, IA: Hermina Rozeboom, 96, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at Hegg Health Center in Rock Valley. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 22, at 2:00 PM at the Netherlands Reformed Congregation of Rock Valley with Rev. J.J. Witvoet officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Visitation, with the family present, will be held Monday, November 21, from 5:30-7:30 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley.

   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Netherlands Reformed Christian School. 

   Hermina (Zomer) Rozeboom, daughter of Herman and Helena (Spaans) Zomer Sr., was born April 25, 1926, at Armour, South Dakota. She grew up in the Corsica, South Dakota area and attended school through the 8^th grade. On March 9, 1948, Hermina was united in marriage with Dick L. Rozeboom. Together the couple farmed 4 years near Fairview, South Dakota, 9 years near Inwood, Iowa, and 28 years near Rock Valley, Iowa, before retiring to Rock Valley in 1990. Dick died February 15, 2001.

   In addition to being a homemaker, Hermina drove school bus for the Netherlands Reformed Christian School for 20 years. She also volunteered many hours at the school as well as 6 years as a Foster Grandparent. Hermina was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation and the Martha Mission Guild.

   Hermina is survived by her 6 sons, Harry (Diane) Rozeboom of Rock Valley, Herman (Cheryl) Rozeboom of Rock Valley, Leonard (Evonne) Rozeboom of Rock Valley, Larry (Tammy) Rozeboom of Spencer, Richard (Lynnette) Rozeboom of Rock Valley, and Harlan (Carol) Rozeboom of Sioux Center. She is also survived by her 17 grandchildren, Darla (Eric) Parks, David Rozeboom, Rachel Spaans, Rebecca (Ryan) Fluit, Melissa (Greg) Helle, Curtis (Patricia) Rozeboom, Kristi (John) Robinson, Kyle (Rebekah) Rozeboom, Carie (Tim) Rus, Justin (Becky) Rozeboom, Heidi (Mark) Koch, Dawn (Ryan) Van Essen, Leah (Derek) Winkowitsch, Laura (Evan) De Hoogh, Michelle (Alex) Kooima, Ross (Haley) Rozeboom and Erin Rozeboom; 44 great-grandchildrenl; and 2 great-great grandchildren; 3 siblings, Nellie Rozeboom of Inwood, Betty Rozeboom of Rock Valley and Clarence (Marlene) Zomer of Sioux Falls; 4 sisters-in-law, Jeane Zomer of Rock Valley, Joane Zomer of Sioux Center, Jackie Rozeboom of Inwood and Dena Erickson of Rock Valley; a very special nephew and niece, Ron and Leny (Rozeboom) Pienink of The Netherlands; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

   Hermina was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Dick L. Rozeboom; parents, Herman and Helena (Spaans) Zomer, Sr.; 2 grandchildren, Paige Renae Rozeboom and Carmen Lynn Rozeboom; grandson-in-law, Leslie Spaans; 1 great-grandchild, Crystal Dawn Rozeboom; Parents-in-law, Leendert and Hattie (Van Der Weide) Rozeboom; 2 brothers, Cornie Zomer and Herman Zomer, Jr.; 5 brothers-in-law, Lane Rozeboom, Cozyn Rozeboom, Dick G. Rozeboom, Roger Erickson and William L. Rozeboom; and 2 sisters-in-law, Gertrude (Theodore) Dykstra and Dilly (Russell) Munch.
