Jacoba Hulshof, 98, of Hawarden, Iowa, formerly of Ireton, Iowa died peacefully Friday, November 26, 2021, at the Hillcrest Heath Care Center in Hawarden.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at First Reformed Church in Ireton, Iowa with Rev. Gerald Norman officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Public viewing, with no family present, will be from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 pm. Monday at Porter Funeral Home in Ireton. Condolences may be sent to www.porterfuneralhomes.com. Coba Hulshof, daughter of Abe and Grace (Remmenga) Falkena was born September 13, 1923 near Sioux Center, Iowa. She grew up in Sioux County. Coba was united in marriage with Everett Hulshof on December 27, 1945. They farmed near Ireton, until retiring in Ireton in 1984. Coba volunteered many years of sewing at Hope Haven in Ireton. Everett and Coba spent winters in Arizona for 20 years. Coba was a member of the First Reformed Church in Ireton where she was in the woman’s guild. She was also a member Red Hatters Club of Ireton. Coba was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Coba moved to Hillcrest in 2014.
Coba is survived by her children, Ronald (Wanda) Hulshof of Ireton, Carol (Curt) Bronkhorst of Hawarden; grandchildren, Cindy (Dave) Engelsma, Ron (Martha) Hulshof, Brenda Hulshof, Katie (Darin) Den Boer, Julie (Dan) Geuze, Harlan (Tammy) Hulshof, Matt Hulshof, Danette (Shawn) Burrington, Caitlin Bronkhorst (Orlando Guzman), Cristine (Dom) Hurtado; 25 great-grandchildren; brothers, Evert (Barb) Falkena, and Andrew Falkena; sisters-in-law, Bonnie Falkena and Vel Falkena; brother-in-law, Melvin Hulshof; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Everett of 70 years; daughter, Donna; great-granddaughter, Kendra Hulshof; brothers, Abe Falkena and Fred Falkena; and in-laws, Ellie Falkena, Dorothy Hulshof, Jacob and MaryAnn Hulshof.
