Jacoba "Jackie" Rozeboom

Inwood, IA: Jacoba “Jackie” Rozeboom, 98, of Inwood, Iowa, died Sunday, November 5, 2023, at Fellowship Village in Inwood. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 10, at 1:30 PM at the Netherlands Reformed Congregation in Rock Valley, Iowa with Rev. J.J. Witvoet officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Visitation, with the family present, will be held Thursday, November 9, from 5:30-6:30 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley. Memorials may be given to the Netherlands Reformed Christian School.

   Jacoba “Jackie” Rozeboom, daughter of Rev. John and Mary (Rottier) Van Zweden, was born February 1, 1925, at Passaic, New Jersey. She graduated from Passaic Senior High School in June 1942. After graduation, Jackie worked as a private secretary for Robins Conveyors, Inc in Passaic until December 1945, after which she moved to Rock Valley, Iowa with her parents.

   Jackie married William “Bill” Rozeboom on December 23, 1947, in Rock Valley. The couple made their home in Rock Valley until moving to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in August 1952. While in Sioux Falls, Jackie was employed in clerical positions at the Sioux Falls City Treasurer’s Office and later at Tri State Electric. In September 1983, Jackie and Bill moved back to Rock Valley until retiring and moved to Canton, South Dakota in September 2008. In November 2009, they moved to the Fellowship Village apartments and later the nursing home in Inwood, Iowa. Bill died April 21, 2022. Jackie was a life-long member of the Netherlands Reformed Congregation. She served as a church organist for the Passaic and Rock Valley congregations for a total of 58 years.

    She is survived by her daughter, Ruth (Teunis) Hoefakker of Rock Valley; 2 grandsons, Thomas (Sandra) Hoefakker of Canton, and Mark (Monica) Hoefakker of Grand Rapids, Michigan; 8 great-grandchildren, Allison, Sean, Devon, Joshua, Carissa (Bryce), Madelyn, Michael, and Summer; and sister-in-law, Marrie Van Zweden of Sioux Center, Iowa.

   Jackie was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. John and Mary Van Zweden; husband of 74 years, Bill Rozeboom; grandchildren, Steven Hoefakker and Kayla Hoefakker; and siblings, Cornelius (Mabel) Van Zweden, Jane (John) Friesema, Jacob (Alice) Van Sweden, Adrian (Audrey) Van Zweden and Joseph Van Zweden.
