James Paul Topf Johnson

James Paul Topf Johnson "Jim" passed away Saturday, November 8, 2025. Jim was a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, November 15, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Parish, St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hawarden, Iowa with Father Mauro Sanchez celebrating the Mass. Jim was born March 7, 1936, the son of Vincent Topf and Rose Topf H. Johnson. Vincent Topf passed away in 1938, and Rose later married Lloyd C. Johnson. Lloyd adopted Jim and his brother and took the last name of Johnson.

Jim farmed his entire life along with his wife Jean of 66 years. They had 11 children that he taught how to bale hay, walk beans, clean chickens, and milk cows. He was a dairyman for many years. He enjoyed dancing with his wife. He loved fishing and many of his children and grandchildren fished from the river by the farm with him.

Jim is survived by his children: Sharla Rinn, Maralee (Scott) Schmidt, Jamey Genna, Bill (Doneen) Johnson, Suzanne (Nick) Anthony, David Johnson, James (Kelly) Johnson, Robert (Nicole) Johnson, Kelley (Matt) Strickland. He had 28 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Johnson; his two sons, Jon Johnson and Alan Troy Johnson; his two brothers, Vincent and Joseph; and his parents.

There are so many memories of Dad, Mom, and the Farm that we will all have in our hearts.
