Canton, SD: Janet Hamann, 81, of Canton, South Dakota, formerly of Inwood, Iowa, died Monday, October 22, 2018, at the Good Samaritan Society – Canton. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 27, at 2:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Inwood. Private family burial will be held Friday, October 26, at Richland Cemetery of Inwood.

Janet Elaine Stewart was born November 22, 1936 in Des Moines, Iowa, the twelfth child of Harry and Mamie Stewart. Jan was a wonderful loving mother and wife who dedicated her life to leading others to Christ.

She and her husband Ken, ministered to several small Christian churches in eastern Iowa, to include building the Calvary Baptist Church in Onslow, Iowa. Their last ministry was the Bethel United Methodist Church in Inwood, Iowa. Jan lived for more than twenty years in the Inwood/Canton area and had many friends in the area. She was a beautiful singer, educator and published poet.

Janet is survived by her two sisters, Gaye Jordan and Carloyn Smith; her children, Nancy Rohwedder, James Hamann, Phillip Hamann, and John Hamann; her grandchildren Michael, Jennifer, Joshua, Andrea, and Robbie; and her great-grandchild, DeLannie.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, William Kenneth Hamann, her parents, and 13 siblings. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting any donations go towards the memorial service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Porter Funeral Home in memory of Janet Hamann.
