Sioux Falls, SD: Jason B. Johnson, 44, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, died Tuesday, March 7, 2017, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. Funeral services will be Monday, March 13, at 10:00 AM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley with Rev. Stanley Groothof officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Visitation, with the family present, will be Sunday, March 12, from 2:00-3:30 PM at Porter Funeral Home.

Jason Byron Johnson, son of Martha Johnson, was born January 25, 1973, in Breckenridge, Minnesota. Jason attended and graduated from Washington High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he enjoyed playing sports. He was a member of the basketball team and made three trips to the state basketball tournament.

Jason worked in construction as a backhoe operator for several years. He married and later divorced Darcy (Wynia) Van Holland. To this union, three children were born; Addison, Austin, and Hannah. He enjoyed playing fast-pitch softball, coaching his children’s youth sports teams, being outside, attending Celebrate Church in Sioux Falls, and making people laugh. Jason’s most cherished times were those spent with his children.

He is survived by his three children, Addison, Austin, and Hannah Johnson, all of Rock Valley, Iowa; three sisters, Lynn Johnson of Manitou Springs, Colorado, Jessica Johnson of Crockett, Texas, and Carla Johnson of Sioux Falls; and six nieces and nephews, Mahpiya, Dramiya, Dazani, Dashanti, Dwayne and Serenity. Jason was preceded in death by his mother and brother, Dwayne.
