Inwood, IA: Kay Breed, 69, of rural Inwood, died Friday, March 22, 2013 at her home. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Monday, March 25, 2013 at the Inwood Community Building with Rev. Ken Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at the Richland Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 24, 2013 with the family present from 3-5 pm at Porter Funeral Home in Inwood. Kay Loraine Lounsbery Breed was born on July 16th, 1943 in Burke, SD to Verle Lounsbery and Lily (Edman) Lounsbery. She grew up in Bonesteel, SD and graduated from Bonesteel High School. After graduation she moved to Sioux Falls, SD and attended Nettleton Community College and worked as a telephone operator until she met and married Charles Breed. Their wedding took place at First Baptist Church of Sioux Falls on April 3rd, 1964. She then moved to rural Inwood, IA where she lived for the rest of her life and raised five children with her husband. Kay also earned a non-traditional master's degree from North American Baptist Seminary in 1991. She worked as a counselor at the Omega Home in Sioux Falls and at Village Northwest Unlimited in Sheldon. She also worked as a volunteer counselor on the Dawson McAllister Hope Line. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren and had a passion for flowers and gardening. She and Charles have been members of Parkview Assembly of God church for nearly 35 years.

Kay is survived by her husband, Charles; children, Brenda Breed & Glenn MacKay of Medford, MA; Jeff Breed of Springfield, MO; David Breed & Susan Winter of Sumner, WA; Rachel Breed Janssen & Robert Janssen of Redwood City, CA; and Jeremy & Keli Breed of Springfield, MO; brother and sister-in-law, Roger & Ronna Lounsbery and her four grandchildren, Sophia MacKay, Remington Janssen, Eli & Leah Breed. Kay was preceded in death by her parents Verle and Lily Lounsbery.
