Obituary

Lynda Deeann Olson, 70, passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2026, in Akron, Iowa.

Funeral Service will be 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden, Iowa, with Rev. Dr. Joshua Lowe of Trinity Lutheran Church, LCMS of Hawarden officiating. Burial will follow at Kingsley Cemetery in Kingsley, Iowa. The service will be recorded and uploaded to her obituary page. Condolences may be sent to www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

Lynda was born on July 21, 1955, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Russell and Lola (Quade) Kranz. She grew up in Kingsley and was the second oldest of four children. She graduated from Kingsley-Pierson High School in 1973. Lynda was united in marriage to Ricky Johnson that same year. Later she married Kip Dwelle, and later Jay Olson.

From an early age, she developed a deep faith in God that guided her life and decisions. She went on to attend Portland Community College (PCC) in Portland, Oregon and earned a degree in nursing in 1986. Lynda worked as a nurse for 40 years. She was known for her dedication, integrity, and her compassionate heart. Outside of work, she enjoyed the beach, traveling, gardening, and treasured time spent with family and friends.

Lynda is survived by her two biological children, Amie Dwelle of Akron and her son James Dwelle of Oregon; two step-sons, Dustin (Kayla) Olson of Oregon and Brandon (Crystal) Olson of Luxembourg; two granddaughters, Jailynn and Arianna; four step-grandchildren, Zak, Jax, Ethan, and Noah; a sister Susan (Randy) Donelson of Hawarden; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Mike and Tim Kranz.

Though our hearts are heavy, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and take comfort in knowing that Lynda is at peace in the presence of the Lord. She lived her life with hope of one day hearing the words, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23
