Marie (Van Oosbree) Boogerd, daughter of John C. and Marie (Van Velzen) Van Oosbree, was born August 13, 1924 in Sioux Center, Iowa. She was a graduate of Sioux Center High School. Marie was united in marriage with James Bartel Boogerd on September 27, 1946. The couple lived in Bremerton, Washington before moving to Sheldon, Iowa. Marie enjoyed quilting and lovingly made many quilts for her grandchildren and great grandchildren and for children in her community. She was well known by many for her chocolate chip cookies and homemade pea soup and also wrote many encouraging letters to family. In her later years she lit up when her family came to visit, especially when she got to hold a new great grand baby and see how big her great grand kids were growing.

Marie, Michigan, James David (Sheryl De Boer) Boogerd of Rock Valley, Marilyn Beth (George) Caswell of Inwood, Iowa, Robert Wayne (Lori Vande Velde) Boogerd of Rock Valley, William Earl Boogerd of Rock Valley, Betty Jane (Doug) Elgersma of Sanborn, Iowa, and Rachel Annette (John) Bergeland of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; 15 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters-in-law, Jean and Norma Van Oosbree.
