INWOOD, IOWA ~ Marjorie “Marge” Ann Kooistra, 86, of Inwood, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Fellowship Village in Inwood. She was surrounded by her loving family. Gene, her faithful companion for 67 years, was holding her hand. She will be missed. We will miss her smile. We will miss the way she cared about others, even as she faced challenges. We will miss her ever-present sense of humor. Even in her last days, she found happiness and joy in conversations and time spent with those who loved her.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, May 28, at Inwood Christian Reformed Church with Rick Rozeboom, her grandson, officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery at Inwood. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 - 7:00 PM, Wednesday, May 27, also at the church. The funeral service will be livestreamed on the church Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/InwoodCRC.
Marge’s family prefers memorials be directed to Fellowship Village in Inwood.
Marjorie was born July 3rd, 1939, to William and Roelina Faber in Rock Rapids, Iowa. She was a graduate of Hull Western Christian High School. She married the love of her life, Eugene Kooistra, on March 6, 1959. As a devoted wife, she gave life to five children and raised them in a loving, caring home. Beginning in 1978, she served as janitor of the Inwood Christian School for 12 years and then head of housekeeping and maintenance for Fellowship Village. In 1992 a stroke left Marjorie disabled and unable to work. However, it was during this time in her life that she had the biggest impact on those around her. She did not see herself as disabled and continued to serve the church as a faithful member. She loved her roses and sought to share them with others in the community. Marjorie enjoyed spending time with her many friends at various social gatherings. She continued to keep Gene on his toes and never let him get into too much trouble. Marjorie absolutely adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Their chaos and energy brought her joy as well as deep satisfaction. She loved to laugh and was often the one improving the mood of the room.
Marjorie is survived by her husband, Eugene Kooistra; their five children, Karla (Rick) Rozeboom, Kevin (Kris) Kooistra, Mike (Marie) Kooistra, Koni (Bryan) DeKam and Monte (Robbie) Kooistra; 18 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren; brother, Jim Faber; sister, Florence (Harvey) Kooistra; and sister-in-law, Eleanor Faber.
