Marvin Vande Kamp

Rock Valley, IA: Marvin Vande Kamp, 87, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died on July 7, 2018 at Whispering Heights of Rock Valley. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 12 at 10:30 AM at First Christian Reformed Church of Rock Valley with Rev. Matthew Haan officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Visitation, with the family present, will be held Wednesday, July 11 from 5:30-7:30 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley. Marvin Vande Kamp, 87, was taken to his eternal heavenly home on July 7, 2018. Marvin was born September 9, 1930 to George and Celia (Vanden Berg) Vande Kamp on a farm near Sioux Center, Iowa. He attended country school through the eighth grade. He served in the army during the Korean War from May 1952 to April 1954.

Marvin married Harriet Van't Hul on August 6, 1956 in Rock Valley, Iowa. They farmed southeast of Rock Valley until 1995, when they moved into Rock Valley. Marvin continued to drive a truck for the Rock Valley Farmers Elevator until 2009. After full retirement Marvin enjoyed volunteering at Justice For All, spending time in the yard, and having daily coffee time with his friends. He was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley, where he was a member of men's Bible study and served as a deacon and elder. Marvin entered Whispering Heights in December 2016.

Those left to cherish Marvin's memory are his wife of 61 years, Harriet;

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, George and Celia; brothers, Gerrit and his wife Priscilla Vande Kamp, George Vande Kamp; sister, Geneva Vanden Bosch; sister-in-law, Loraine Vande Kamp; brothers-in-law, Alfred De Jong, John T. Van Holland, and Marvin Ten Napel.
