Mary Lee Kragt

June 14, 1935 — September 5, 2020

 

Mary Lee (Haedt) Kragt passed away on Saturday September 5, 2020 at The Manor, Lake Jackson in Sebring, Florida. Mary Lee was born on June 14, 1935 in Mankato, Minnesota, the daughter of Mary (Groll) and Harry Haedt. She grew up in Mankato and became a teacher. She married her husband Dr. Preston Kragt on December 26, 1954. They celebrated 65 years of marriage this past December. She taught school while putting her husband through dental school. Then she became a full-time stay at home mother until all her children were school age. Then she had the joy of becoming her husband's Office Manager.

 

   Mary Lee accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at a very early age. She lived her life with a strong faith that God will always provide in everything. Things that were important to Mary Lee were her faith in God, her family, friends and being able to “help” when there was a need. She was a devout member of St. Johns Methodist Church in Sebring, Florida. Mary Lee was very involved in the UMW (United Methodist Women) for over 50 years. She held local and state offices in Minnesota and Oklahoma. She also held the local office of President in Sebring, Florida. She has “published” articles and a play for UMW.

 

   She is survived by husband, Dr. Preston Kragt; daughters, Ann Van Coevering, Mary Sue (John) Johnson, son, David Kragt; 6 Grandchildren; 6 Great-grandchildren; 3 brothers in law, Dr. Edwin Kragt, Dr. Joel Kragt, and Dr. John (Pam) Kragt; and sister in law, Elaine Vreeman.

 

   Preceding her in death is her son, Alan Kragt; 2  nieces, Joyce and Becky Haber; 3 sisters and their husbands, Naomi (Arlo) Born, Betty (Rev. Jim) Schneider and Sada (Rev. Clarence) Haber; along with a brother-in-law, Dr. Harvey Kragt and 2 sisters-in-law, Mina (Dr. Edwin) Kragt and Karen (Dr. Joel) Kragt.

 

   The family will hold a private memorial service at Valley View Cemetery in Rock Valley, Iowa, at the Kragt Family Plot on Saturday, October 17, 2020.

 

   In lieu of flowers please give to your local Humane Society, one of Mary Lee’s favorite charity’s to give to.
