Rock Valley, IA: Miguel (Mike) Garcia, 23, died suddenly on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at his home in Rock Valley. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, May 24, at 3:00 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. Doug Klein officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery of Rock Valley. A Prayer service will be held Tuesday, May 23, at 5:00 PM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with visitation, with the family present, to follow from 5:30-7:00 PM and a rosary at 7:00 PM. Miguel (Mike) Angel Garcia was born in Sibley, Iowa on August 3, 1993. Son of Ramon and Griselda Garcia, he lived in Sioux Center, Iowa part of his childhood until he was 10. His family moved to Rock Valley, Iowa where Mike attended school at Rock Valley Community School. Mike participated in various sports, but he was most passionate about wrestling and football. Mike was very passionate about the Las CHIVAS soccer team and the NFL’s Denver Broncos. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Rock Valley.

Mike and Alexis Chavez knew each other since their childhood. In 2011 they started their relationship, and they were married in 2013. In February 2014, they welcomed their daughter, Yarel Griselda Garcia. He worked at Pizza Ranch during high school and also the egg plant. Years later he was employed at De Roon Construction for 3 years and his final job was at C&J Construction which he loved.

Some of the qualities that made up his character showed that he was a caring, loving, and responsible son, father, husband, nephew, grandson, cousin and friend. He gained the appreciation and affection of those who surrounded him.

Mike is survived by his wife, Alexis Garcia of Rock Valley; 2 daughters, Yarel (3) of Rock Valley and Kimberly (8) of Colotlan, Jalisco, Mexico; his parents, Ramon and Griselda Garcia of Rock Valley; 2 brothers, Diego and Jesue Garcia of Rock Valley; 2 grandparents, Manuel Perez and Guadalope Vela; mother-in-law, Griselda Chavez; and many more family members (uncles, aunts, and cousins) in the United States and Mexico. He was preceded in death by 2 grandparents, Maria Rubalcava and Jose Garcia; and 2 aunts, Apolinar Garcia and Angelica Gonzales.



Rock Valley, IA: Miguel (Mike) García, de 23 años, murió repentinamente el domingo 14 de mayo de 2017 en su casa de Rock Valley. Miguel García nació en Sibley, Iowa el 3 de agosto de 1993. Hijo de Ramón y Griselda García, vivió en Sioux Center, Iowa, parte de su infancia hasta los 10 años. Fue precedido en la muerte por dos abuelos, María Rubalcava y José García; Y 2 tías, Apolinar García y Angelica Gonzales
