Myron Lee Coons, the son of Russell and Loretta (Muth) Coons, was born on October 9, 1944, in Hawarden, Iowa.
He started working at the Co-op in Ireton at 16 years of age and worked there for many years. He then worked at Iowa Lamb Plant in Hawarden for several years before starting at Siouxland Implement where he worked for 20 years, before retiring in 2009. He also farmed his entire life up until the very end. Although retired, he was busier than he ever was in his working years attending all his grandkids’ various events.
He was united in marriage to Linda Renken on August 13, 1966, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hawarden. They were blessed with four children, Russell “Rusty”, Eva, Lynette, and Sara.
Mike was a hardworking, kind, and generous man. He was always willing to help his kids and grandkids with any projects they dreamt up.
He enjoyed going to Deadwood with his wife to “donate”, they also enjoyed going on family vacations with their kids, grandkids, and more recently great grandkids. Every family gathering was an opportunity to play cards.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; a son, Russell (Ruth) Coons; daughters, Eva (Brian) Teut, Lynette Coons, and Sara (Brad) Hofland; and special niece/daughter, Shelly (Allen) Moon. Myron also has ten grandkids, JD, Mikella, Jake, Dracin, Jordan, Kaleb, Dakota, Nicole, Nathan, and Michael; along with four great grandkids, Ivy, Eleanor, Theo, and Violet, as well as his beloved dog, Lady (the dog he never wanted), and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Loretta Coons; brother, Eugene Coons; sister-in-law, Cathy Coons; mother-in-law and father-in-law, as well as all of his brothers-in-law.
Myron was a man of few words and a wicked sense of humor who will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
