Pauline (Hughes) Schaller

SIOUX FALLS, SOUTH DAKOTA ~  Pauline (Hughes) Schaller, 91, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Ireton, Iowa and Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls. GRAVESIDE SERVICE WILL BE 2:00 P.M. SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2023 AT PLEASANT HILL CEMETERY IN IRETON, IOWA. The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden, Iowa is assisting the family.

   Pauline was born in Ireton, Iowa on March 20, 1932, to Albert and Viola (Miller) Hughes. She was raised to life triumphant on August 9, 2023. She grew up in Ireton along with 8 siblings, graduating and moving to Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she lived for 14 years, then moving to Phoenix, Arizona where she lived for 52 years. She returned to Sioux Falls for the last 7 years of her life.

   Pauline was a spirited, fun-loving, and ambitious person all 91 years of her earthly life. She loved Jesus and now resides with Him in Heaven where she will live forever.

   Survivors include: 2 sisters, Nancy Jordan and Sally Calkins; 2 brothers, Jon (Donna) Hughes and Mike Hughes; and 33 loving nieces and nephews.

   Preceding her in death were her husband, John Schaller; her parents; 3 sisters and their husbands, Helen (Herb) Schneider, Peggy (Ray) Wierda, and Myrna (Marlin) Westra: 1 brother, Don (Doris) Hughes; sister-in-law, Gretchen Hughes; and brother-in-law, Lowell Calkins.
