HAWARDEN, IOWA- Ramon Navarro Lopez, 74, of Hawarden, passed away on Saturday, May 5, 2018 at his residence in Hawarden.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 7:00 p.m.; Friday, May 11, 2018 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hawarden with Father Sunny Dominic officiating. Burial will be later at the Panteon Municipal Cemeterio, at Amatlan de Cañas, Nayarit, Mexico. Condolences for the family may be sent on www.porterfuneralhomes.com. The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden is assisting the family.

Ramon was born April 24, 1944 in Amatlan de Cañas, Nayarit, Mexico to Pedro Navarro Ortiz and Cecilia Lopez Casillas. He attended college and married Ma. Hermelinda Robles Quintor in October of 1968. He was employed as a police officer for a year, and worked construction, as a marine ship painter, and in the ship yards. He later became a farmer and then worked on dairy farms. They lived in Mexico, also in Oakland, Yuba City, and Lodi, California, before moving to Hawarden, Iowa. Ramon was in the California Soccer Football Association, he played soccer and also coached soccer. He had been in Club Deportivo Amatlan and on the Board of Directors-Los Cañeros.

He is survived by his wife, Ma. Hermelinda Robles Quintor; daughter, Estela Navarro and her husband Jose Javier Garcia Duenas of Hawarden; 3 grandchildren, Jose Ramon Garcia Navarro, Francisco Javier Garcia Navarro, and Jessica Cecilia Garcia Navarro; siblings, Edelmira Navarro Lopez, Pablo Ortega of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Pedro Navarro Lopez of Guadalajara, Jalisco, and Candelaria Navarro Lopez of Oakland, California.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Maria Navarro Lopez; Eulalia Navarro Lopez, Concepcion Navarro Lopez, Angelina Navarro Lopez, Guadalupe Navarro Lopez, and Jesus Navarro Lopez his brother.

Ramón Navarro López nació el 24 de Abril del 1944 en Amatlan de Cañas, Nayarit, México a Pedro Navarro Ortiz y Cecilia Lopez Casillas. Asistió a la Universidad y se casó con Ma. Hermelinda Robles Quintor en Octubre del 1968. Trabajó como oficial de policía durante un año, y trabajo en la construcción, como pintor de barcos marinos, y en las yardas de la nave. Más tarde se convirtió en agricultor y luego trabajó en lecherías. Vivieron en México, también en Oakland, Yuba City, y Lodi, California, antes de mudarse a Hawarden, Iowa. Ramón estaba en la Asociación de fútbol Soccer de California, jugaba fútbol y también fue entrenador de fútbol. Había estado en el club deportivo Amatlan y en el Consejo de administración-Los Cañeros. Él murió el sábado, 5 de mayo del 2018 en su residencia en Hawarden a la edad de 74 años.

Hermelinda Robles Quintor; hija, Estela Navarro y su esposo José Javier García Duenas de Hawarden; 3 nietos, José Ramón García Navarro, Francisco Javier García Navarro, y Jessica Cecilia García Navarro; hermanos, Edelmira Navarro Lopez, de Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Pedro Navarro Lopez de Guadalajara, Jalisco, y Candelaria Navarro Lopez de Oakland, California.

Fue precedido en la muerte por sus padres; hermana, María Navarro Lopez; Eulalia Navarro Lopez, Concepción Navarro Lopez, Angelina Navarro Lopez, Guadalupe Navarro Lopez, y Jesus Navarro Lopez su hermano.
