Renee’ Janet Niemeyer was born in Roseland Illinois on October 30, 1939 to Arend and Rena Beezhold. She grew up in an ethnically diverse neighborhood and enjoyed telling stories of childhood playmates and her multi-family home. A favorite pastime was running through fire hydrant water to cool off in the hot summers.

When Renee was in middle school the family moved from the Chicago area to Englewood, Colorado where she attended Denver Christian and developed many fond memories and friendships that have endured over the years. After graduating from high school Renee got an apartment with her best friend and began working as a bookkeeper downtown Denver for a savings and loan company.

One night, when out with her friends, Renee yelled out her phone number to one of them and her now husband, Charlie who had his eye on her that evening, wrote the number down and called her up. Several months later, on February 18, 1959 Renee married Charles Niemeyer and the couple made their home in Colorado.

Soon after the birth of their first child, Charlie and Renee moved to Iowa to become involved with the Niemeyer family farm. Renee, a city girl, had never seen a farm before and moved into a house without plumbing, experiencing an outhouse for the first time and learning to raise chickens and gather eggs.

Renee’s passions included family, friends, church, gardening, cooking and baking, and leisure time spent near water. Over the years Renee has enjoyed participating in various church and community activities. She was a long-time member of the Alvord Women’s Club and treasured bible studies and coffee time with the many special ladies in both Inwood and Alvord. She loved traveling and visiting her family whenever possible. She always enjoyed music and loved singing in the church choirs. She was an avid life-long learner. While her children were young, she acquired her license in interior design from the Sheffield School of Design in New York, took art classes and learned to play the piano by taking correspondence courses. She attended nursing classes at Northwest Iowa Community College and spent some time working as a nurse’s aide. She later took classes at Sioux Falls College (USF) and taught career and life planning at Northwest Iowa Community College. In the early 90’s, Renee’ enrolled in floral design classes through the horticulture program at Southeast Technical College in Sioux Falls and fulfilled the dream of owning and operating her own florist in Inwood, Iowa called ‘Petals and Lace’ where she considered it her great joy and privilege to serve the locals by lovingly designing for their special occasions. As a faithful servant throughout all of her life, both personal and professional, a common phrase for Renee’ to family, friends and customers was, “What can I do to help?”

Renee is survived by her husband, Charles Roger Niemeyer, Her Children, Tim (Mary) Niemeyer, Dan (Lisa) Niemeyer, Rebecca (Robert) Rens, and Mark (Shannon) Niemeyer, her brothers, Arend (Ann) Beezhold and George (Anita) Beezhold.
