Richard was a cherished member of the Inwood community. In his early years, he enjoyed fishing with his best friends, bowling downtown Inwood, slow-pitch softball, tractor pulls, and of course making sure everyone in town had sweet corn from the “Bos patch.” He worked for the Inwood Hatchery making and delivering feed for local farmers as well.
Richard loved to farm! He delighted in helping his neighbors making sure their operations were successful. His fulfillment was simply helping those with an interest in agriculture. He enjoyed having coffee with his farming friends where every morning they tried to figure out “who planted corn the straightest!”
Most of all, Richard loved the Lord and was a lifelong member of First Reformed Church in Inwood. He served in the consistory as both deacon and elder. He took great pride in church activities knowing it was for God’s glory. He was a mentor among the congregation and strived to be the best Husband, Dad, and Grandpa by being a devoted Christian.
