Rita Elaine DeVaul, 79, of Inwood, Iowa, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, August 20, 2026.

Rita was born on September 13, 1946, at Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the daughter of Harold and Florence (Coyer) DeVaul. She graduated from West Lyon High School in 1964 and later attended Humboldt Institute in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Her later career included positions as a receptionist with Merrill Lynch and in Guest Relations for the Colorado Rockies.

Rita was an avid baseball fan who faithfully followed the Rockies, Yankees, and Twins. She loved to read and was an active member of the Inwood Library Book Club. She volunteered with Fellowship Village and served on the boards of both the Inwood Library and the Inwood Museum. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Rita enjoyed traveling and had the opportunity to see much of the world.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Florence (Coyer) DeVaul.

Rita is survived by her sister, Linda Renae DeVaul; Linda’s husband, Steve Carr; and their son, Alexander Carr.
