Roger Jongetjes

Rock Valley, IA: Roger Jongetjes, 75, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Wednesday, March 11, 2020, at his home in Rock Valley. Memorial service will be held Friday, March 13, at 2:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home in Rock Valley with Rev. J.J. Witvoet officiating. Burial will take place at 1:00 PM at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Visitation, with family present, will follow the memorial service.

   Roger Edwin Jongetjes was born September 21, 1944 in Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of Henry and Cora (Post) Jongetjes. Roger lived on a farm near Lester, Iowa with his family. At the age of 4 years, Roger’s family moved to Rock Valley. He attended the Rock Valley Public School and graduated in 1962. Roger served in the US Navy from 1965-1967. He returned to Rock Valley after his service and was employed at several different factories in town. Roger never married. He was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Church in Rock Valley.

   Roger is survived by his siblings, LeRoy Jongetjes, Clayton (Sheryl) Jongetjes, Allan Jongetjes, Norman (Dorothy) Jongetjes, and Joyce Van Voorst.

   He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Cora; brother-in-law, Gerald Van Voorst; sister-in-law, Audrey Jongetjes; nephew, Gregory Van Voorst; and nieces, Angela Jongetjes and Brenda Jongetjes-Rasch.
