Roger Delbert Miller, age 92, passed away on Monday, September 29, 2025, at the South Texas Health System Hospital, in McAllen, Texas. Roger was born on September 1, 1933, on the family farm outside of Hudson, South Dakota to his wonderful parents, Albert and Adeline (Schuldt) Miller. He was the fifth of seven children. He graduated from Hudson High School in 1951. At the age of 20, Roger enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served for two years during the Korean War until the conflict ended.

In 1956, following the passing of his father, Roger took over operations of the family farm near Hudson. He and his wife Rose (Bushnell) Theodoredis lived on the farm for many years, where they raised two daughters. Roger raised corn and soybeans and raised hogs for many years. After retiring from farming, he continued working for several years as a Federal Meat Inspector at the John Morrell Packing Plant in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Roger had many hobbies throughout his life and truly lived each day to the fullest. From an early age, he was an avid fisherman, and he also enjoyed hunting and traveling. He had a gift for connecting with others and never met a stranger.

Roger was immensely proud of his military service and remained deeply connected to his fellow veterans throughout his life. He was a lifelong member of both the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. One of the highlights of his later years was being honored as a guest on an Honor Flight, where he had the unforgettable opportunity to visit the national war memorials alongside his fellow veterans.

For the final 25 years of his life, Roger was a winter Texan, living in the Casa Del Sol retirement community in Donna, Texas. Roger met Linda at a dance in another retirement park, where they discovered a shared love of dancing together. They had been sweethearts since 2004 and were married on January 5, 2019. Each summer, they traveled together to the Black Hills of South Dakota, exploring scenic country roads. Some of their favorite adventures included visiting the Crazy Horse Memorial, climbing to the top of Harney Peak - something Roger continued doing until the age of 77- and attending local powwows together.

Roger is deeply missed by his two daughters, Penny Dylla (Gary) of Wichita Falls Texas, and Tammy Calderon (Steve) of Orlando, Florida. He was a devoted grandfather to his grandsons: Christopher, Nicholas and Michael Calderon, as well as Brady and Zach Dylla. Roger is also survived by his wife Linda of Donna, Texas as well as Linda’s children: Linda Shannon (Mike) of Mesquite, Texas, Liza Ybarra of Rio Hondo, Texas, and Daniell Vasquez (Sandra) of Austin, Texas; and two grandsons, Joel Shannon and Gilbert Ybarra.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Adeline; and his siblings: Harvey, Hilda, Howard, Doris, Mary and Joann.
