Inwood, Iowa—Ryan George Halma, 41, of Inwood, Iowa was liberated of the heavy chains which bound him here on earth Thursday, August 14, 2025. He met his heavenly Father once again surrounded by his loving family. Addiction is a weighted burden and though the hardest worker—this burden grew too heavy for him to sustain.
Ryan met the world on May 28, 1984 and was the oldest of six children to his loving parents, Rick and Paula (Brands) Halma. Ryan is remembered as charismatic and rambunctious—inevitably showing his siblings the ropes and heroically saving his dad from a grain bin.
Though addiction had proven a poison to Ryan and those who loved him, we choose to remember him when he was at his best. The laugh which filled a room, his smile that hinted at the mischief in his soul, and the love and appreciation he always had and showed for his family and children. His addiction does not erase the immense love he had for his family and friends, and never clouded the judgment of his tender yet charming demeanor.
Ryan is survived by his parents, Rick and Paula; his children, Adam, Tobey, Maci, and Tate; his siblings, Marcus (Adrienne), Eric, Jared (Mariah), Jordan (Brookstin), and Holly (Branden) Rabb; along with many nieces and nephews, Annie, Zoey, Bellamy, Phoenix, Calvin, Owen, Quinn, Rylee, Talynn, Kanaan, Huck, Zander, Cooper, Mercer, and Meadow; grandparents, Ann Halma, Gerald and Lavina Brands; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Ryan was preceded in death by his grandpa, George Halma and uncle, Gary Halma.
