Obituary

Sharon Jean Verduin (Breuer) passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones on May 19th, after a brief illness. True to her strong and stubborn nature, she held on as long as she could before her Savior called her home.

A small family service will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church near Hull, Iowa.

The Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden, Iowa is assisting the family.

Sharon came into the world on July 28, 1956, born to Marvin and Marcella Breuer in Sioux Center, Iowa. Along with a big sister Joyce, she grew up in rural Sioux County and later the towns of Boyden and Hull, where she was a tomboy who preferred spending her time outside barefoot and tagging along with her grandpa Henry on the farm.

In 1972, she was blessed with a daughter, Cheri. In 1979, she married the love of her life, Dale, in Washington state, where they welcomed daughter Stacy in 1982. In 1984, after returning to Iowa to be closer to family, their last daughter Amber was born.

Sharon will be remembered for many things, her sense of humor not the least of them. Some of her favorite pastimes were playing cards, listening to music on the radio and doing a jig to her favorites, and watching the weather on the news.

She never lost her love for the outdoors, and in the warm months she could often be found working in her large vegetable garden or her flower beds. During harvest time she spent many hours canning and preserving her bounty and sharing her surplus. She had a very large heart, always putting others before herself, beings both two-legged and four-legged, wild and domestic.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin and Marcella; sister, Joyce; and a granddaughter, Deja. She is survived by her husband of nearly 47 years, Dale; daughters, Cheri, Stacy, and Amber; niece, Amy; granddaughter, Nicole; grandsons, Ezra and Ira; and great-granddaughters, Carmen, Zakia, and Marcella.
