Vincent Hook

Hawarden, Iowa ~ Vincent John Hook, 87, of Hawarden, died on Monday, September 21, 2015 at the Hillcrest Health Care Center in Hawarden.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hawarden with Father Doug Klein officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be in the Grace Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday with a Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. The Porter Funeral Home is assisting the family. Condolences for the family may be sent to www.porterfuneralhomes. In lieu of flowers, the family would like memorials to the Hawarden Ambulance or Hospice of Siouxland.
Vincent John Hook was born November 16, 1927 in George, Iowa, the son of John and Ella (Wilts) Hook. He served in the US Navy from February 1946 to September of 1946. He married Lavonne Kratochvil on June 29, 1950 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hawarden. Vince got his CDL at the age of 16 and drove truck for several different companies over his lifetime. The last 30 years of his driving was with the Midwest Continental Trucking Company.
He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Hawarden Eagles. Vince enjoyed his many cups of coffee with his friends.
Survivors include his wife, Lavonne; 7 children, Lorri (Frank) Schuller of Hawarden, Shery (Lyle) Kaskie of Hawarden, Dennis Hook of Hot Springs, South Dakota. Terry (Joni) Hook of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mic (Shelda) Hook of Hawarden, Joe (Dodie) Hook of Akron, Iowa, and Pat (Jackie) Hook of Algonquin, Illinois; a sister, Delores (Roland) Holder of Hinton, Iowa; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Vincent was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Larry Hook and his wife Marge; grandson, Andrew John Hook; granddaughter, Ashley Hook; and daughter-in-law, Jeneene Hook.
