Rock Valley, IA: Warren D. Van Otterloo, 62, of Rock Valley, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, September 11, 2025, from injuries sustained in a truck accident near Fairview, South Dakota. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 18, at First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley with Rev. Matthew Haan officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery at Rock Valley. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 17, at First CRC. Warren Dale Van Otterloo was born August 9, 1963, to Harvey and Joanne (Wolfswinkel) Van Otterloo in Sioux Center, Iowa. He attended Rock Valley Christian School and Western Christian High School.
Warren married Jodi Klinghagen. They were blessed with one son Justin. He also welcomed to his family his stepson, Nic McVay. The couple later divorced.
Warren enjoyed things like family gatherings, where there was always so much good food to be shared, driving truck, which led to many conversations with friends as he traveled, and attending car races. He also had a passion for horses and was a part of Harness Racing where he enjoyed training and caring for many horses. Warren was very proud of his son Justin who also became involved with racing. Warren was his biggest cheerleader and was so proud of him. He never met anyone he couldn’t strike up a conversation with. He had a big heart and cared for everyone.
Warren had a love for trucking and spent many years driving for different companies and farmers. He spent the last years trucking for Davelaar Farms, whom he considered to be family. Warren was a longtime member of the First Christian Reformed Church in Rock Valley.
Warren is survived by his son, Justin; stepson, Nic McVay; parents, Harvey and Joanne Van Otterloo; siblings, Bonnie and Rick Davelaar of Rock Valley, Merlin and Cindy Van Otterloo of Rock Valley, Wendell and Julie Van Otterloo of Rock Valley, Darwin and Wanda Van Otterloo of George, Iowa, Kim Van Otterloo of Rock Valley, Nolan and Julie Van Otterloo of Rock Valley, and Starla Van Otterloo also of Rock Valley; 21 nephews and nieces and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Warren was preceded in death by his grandparents, Pete and Magdelina Van Otterloo and Joe and Sadie Wolfswinkel.
